2011 AIDS RUN & WALK CHICAGO



















Saturday morning, about 5000 supporters and participants came out to upper Hutchinson Field in Grant Park for the 2011 AIDS Run & Walk Chicago. The events included a 5K, a 10K run and a 5K walk. To date the AIDS Run & Walk Chicago has netted over 3 million dollars to fight HIV/AIDS and provides support to over 150 Chicagoland organizations that work with people on issues regarding HIV/AIDS.

Blues Heaven Pays Tribute To Legendary Drummer Odie Payne Jr.













The Willie Dixon Blues Heaven Foundation paid tribute to legendary drummer Odie Payne Jr. as part of their Record Row Concert Series last Thursday. The late Mr. Payne would have be eighty-five years old. The bandleader for the event was Dr. Odie Payne III a respected drummer in his own right. Many guest performers were also on hand for the celebration.

Regina Carter At The South Shore Jazz Fest




















Violinist Regina Carter performed a crowd pleasing set of international jazz Sunday afternoon at the South Shore Jazz Fest. The lakefront on Chicago's southeast side served as a backdrop for Ms. Carter's performance. Her supporting group of musicians that included a percussionist, an accordion player, a kora player and an acoustic bassist. Fortunately, Regina was able to complete her set before the rain came down and forced the remainder of the festival to be held inside of the South Shore Cultural Center.
